A Standard Suite at The Encore
We have high-tailed it out of Toronto and checked-in to the luxury that is The Wynn Encore in Las Vegas. Here is a peek into one of the swankiest hotels on 'The Strip'...
Rates are cheapest Sunday-Thursday and cost around $220/night on Expedia this time of year. Best thing is to book a package that includes your flight to get the best deal and even a resort credit with your stay. We got a $75 credit and it paid for our delicious trip to the infamous Wynn Buffet. Wanna go for the weekend? Rates are $570/night, so try to arrange vacation time to go mid-week instead! You can spend the cash you saved on clothes :) Cab fare from McCarran Airport will run you around $25. You can rent a car, but look out for all the taxes and fees which can add almost 25% extra and that's before insurance. BUT - there is free valet everywhere! Just don't drink and drive after too many drinks at the casino, which by the way, are free when you are gambling. They will even serve you when you are playing the penny slots!

Recessionistas, please keep in mind - everything is EXTRA when staying in Vegas. Internet runs $14/day and local calls are charged $1.50/each. Need to work off that buffet? The gym is $30/per person per day. Better to just save the yoga for when you get home. One trick is to book a spa treatment and you get access to the gym/spa facilities for free. So if you were thinking of spa-ing anyway, might as well get a workout while you're at it.

The Resort Suite King is incredibly spacious and probably the size of a small condo back in Toronto. You'll find yourself in 745 square feet of space with ample closet space and room to lounge out. We thought the bathrobes were a nice touch. There's a mini-bar in the suite, just don't remove anything for longer then 60 seconds or you'll be charged for the item. Beer and alcohol are almost half the cost if you go down to the 'Sundries' store downstairs. Most bars/restaurants in Vegas do a pretty decent Happy Hour with discounted drinks and apps from 4-7 PM.
Yes - this bathroom is bigger than yours.
Pretty much - there is nothing cheap at The Wynn Encore unless you are in the market for a Chanel suit or a Louis Vuitton bag. There are tons of expensive stores to drool over, and the food is definitely overpriced. Luckily, there is a decent food court in The Venetian just south of the hotel. The Fashion Show Mall is across the street and has some OK food selections as well. The stores inside the mall are of your typical American fare, but a bit more high end - Victoria's Secret, Macy's, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's.

Overall, we LOVE the Wynn Encore. This is probably the second best hotel room we've stayed in after The Four Seasons in Maui. For those looking for more luxury and swank, check out the 'Tower Suites'. Which are the higher-end rooms in the hotel...Higher-end then this??? We can only imagine! Stay tuned for more blog entries from Vegas and food pictures to come! So far we've hit Bouchon (by Thomas Keller) and The Wynn Buffet. I have taken lots of pictures for all of the foodies who follow my blog. Thanks for reading!
