Mother's Day Gift Ideas - Toronto 2010

Mother's Day is next Sunday.  Which means time to go shopping for yo' momma if you haven't already.  We made it easy and have compiled a list of our favourites.  Here are The hip & urban girl's Picks from around the web and in Toronto:

Personalized Cottage & Beach Tote Bag from Land's End - Order it today as it can take 4-7 business days to ship.  Sears also sells Land's End products and you can pick one up in store.  I ordered one for my Mother-in-Law last year and she loved it because of all the great pockets to stash magazines, water and other cottage essentials.  This tote is sturdy and durable, but not so precious that it can't be thrown into the washing machine when it gets dirty.

Spa Gift Certificate to Stillwater Spa, Park Hyatt Toronto - You can pull into the Hyatt roundabout and pop in & out to grab your Mom a gift certificate to one of the best spas in Toronto.  Massages start at around $140, but includes access to a gorgeous tea room, sauna, steam room and hot tub.  If your mom has massage benefits through her workplace, she can also claim back her treatment for a massage, as all the therapists there are registered.  The spa is also running some great specials right now Monday - Thursday including $99 facials and $150 for a mini mani, pedi, facial and massage.

Afternoon Tea Party at The Windsor Arms Hotel, Toronto - Yes, it will be chaos on Sunday with everyone and their Mother attempting to brunch at the exact same time.  Instead of fighting through it, make up a nice card with an offer of going for high tea at the luxurious Windsor Arms Hotel.  That way you and Mom can pick a Sunday together which won't be completely rammed.  The tea room is very stylish and not stuffy with hits of purple contrasted against the white table linens.  We also love the dramatic baroque accessories.  Afternoon Tea on the weekends runs around $38 and the sandwiches are inventive and delightful.  We could barely get through the whole tea stand, it was so filling.

Gourmet Cooking Workshop at Dish Cooking Studio, Toronto -  Owned by Trish Magwood of the Food Network cooking show, 'Dish'.  The studio itself is a modern, bright space that offers cooking classes for beginner and advanced chefs.  Prices start at a reasonable $125 with hands-on instruction for around 2-3 hours working on 3-4 recipes as a group.  Most people partner up and attack a recipe together with everyone sitting down for the big meal afterwards and a glass of wine.  This is something you could also do with Mom as a fun girls day out.

Hope you got a couple ideas or maybe even some better ones for us?  What are you doing for your Mom?

Happy Mother's Day!
