Urban Eats @ Le Petit Dejeuner, Toronto

Amongst the designer furniture stores on King Street East lies a hidden gem - Le Petit Dejeuner - known for its delicious brunch and cozy diner style setting. With a colourful decor of red and yellow hues, sparkly green seats, old photos and exposed brick walls, this place reminded me of the simpler days (or at least pre-Facebook times) where my friends and I would meetup whenever we craved the 'old breakfast favourites'.

The menu at LPD is quite simple but the variations are extensive. Eggs can be ordered almost any way you like - scrambled, poached, fried, omelet style or eggs benny and served with such sides as apple coleslaw, potato rosti, toast and/or fruit. For the crêpe lovers, they have both sweet (jam and butter) to salty crêpes filled with cheese, peameal bacon and/or ham. Those with a sweet tooth will definitely enjoy their authentic Brussels' style waffles drizzled with different flavours of organic maple syrup and Chantilly cream. Vegetarian options are also available.

The dishes range from $9.75 to $16 (plus tax).

Le Petit Dejueuner also serves lunch and dinner. The brunch schedule is Saturdays 9am - 3pm and Sunday 10am - 3pm. Arrive early or later as this place is known for its lineups during weekend brunch and wait time for peak periods is 20-30 mins.

I love how they are still there - I haven't been to Le Petit Dejeuner for quite some time as I'm based in Mississauga, but I'm now inspired to make a trip sometime on a weekend soon. Love the delicious hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benny.
