Hip + Urban Store: Urban Nails

Urban Nails on the Danforth is a *gem* of a nail salon with friendly staff, hip decor and fantastic prices. Kevin Nguyen opened Urban Nails in January 2008 and business is booming. Not an empty chair was to be found this past weekend as everyone got their toes and tips ready for sandal season.

Happy customers reclined back in their leather massage chairs and soaked in the warm jets vibrating against their feet. Gorgeous chandeliers light up the space and bold wallpaper line the walls. Clients are offered complimentary water or tea and a trove of fashion, decor and gossip magazines to pass the time.
My Pedicure included a leg and foot massage, hot towel treatment, nail trimming and scrub of my rough heels.

The walk-in appointment is SO key when planning a lazy afternoon on the weekend. Wait times are generally under 30 minutes when the salon is busy. The Danforth is an easy neighbourhood to kill time in with Dough Bakeshop and Fresh Floral Creations next door to wander into. Appointments are also available for those on a set schedule.
Manicures are $15, Pedicures are $25 and the combo is only $35. Eyebrow waxing is $8 with a full waxing menu available. Urban Nails also does acrylics, gels and shellac starting from $25+.
Drop by this hip + urban nail salon on your next afternoon off and then spend the day eating Greek food and shopping all the cute local boutiques on the Danforth. The prices will not set you back too much and you can catch up on all your celeb gossip while you dry.

  1. I just tried Urban Nails for the first time a few weekends ago. My former manicurist, Mary, left my usual jaunt and went to Urban. Great service and lots of colours to choose from. Make sure you ask for Mary and tell her I sent you!
