hug Style - Sexy Wavy Beach Hair

Summer is finally here!  Which means lounging poolside and hanging out at the beach with friends.  So what does a hip + urban girl do with her hair?  If I know I am going for a dip, there's just no point getting out the flat iron to deal with all the frizz.

Weekends and vacays are all about being low-maintenance and maximizing fun -  not primping like you are in the city.  We are all about going with the flow and working our sexy, wavy beach hair because sometimes, you just can't fight the humidity - you gotta work with it.  Our friends at Moroccanoil sent along some great products for wavy/curly hair for us to try out.

I think one of the best tricks is to wash your hair, towel-dry and apply a product like the 'Hydrating Styling Cream' or a 'Curl Control Cream' to fight off humidity and frizz but helps work a curl or a wave.  Once you have combed the product through or worked it with your hands, twist your hair and then wrap it into a bun during your trip to the beach.  Go for a swim and layout in the sun while your hair dries.  Once you are done, remove the bun and voila!  You should have natural looking sexy, wavy beach hair with little to no maintenance.  To boost your curls, try misting a bit of Moroccanoil 'Shine Spray' to give yourself a little shimmer in the sun.

I have pretty wavy, thick hair.  Here's what I look like getting ready for the beach, after wearing my hair in a bun on the way there with a bit of styling cream.  Another trick is to just style your bangs by blow-drying or by pinning everything back and off your forehead.

Keep your make-up simple with waterproof mascara, a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 and a dab of lip gloss.  It's probably all coming off in the pool anyway!  Make sure you wear lots of sunscreen and reapply, especially on your face.

The Moroccanoil line that I used contains a blend of Argan oils with a blend of vitamins, antioxidants and UV protectors.  To learn more, visit them online at:

So what are your tricks for summer hair?

  1. I love Aveda's "be curly" hair cream. I just put in my hair when it's wet and let it air dry...perfect for soft summer waves! I also use it during the winter because it keeps my wavy/curly hair hydrated and smooth. It's a product I swear by!

  2. I definitely find that you need some sort of cream to deal with all this humidity and frizz!
