Hockey legend, Steve Yzerman is a very well-dressed man and pretty easy on the eyes too. Yzerman, along with CBC legend - Brian Williams and gold-medal winner, Alex Bilodeau were on hand at The Bay, Queen Street earlier this month to launch the Fall 2010 Menswear Collection. Along with the canapes and cocktails, it was great to hear first-hand about their experience at the Olympics. Not only were both athletes extremely well-spoken, they were very gracious and took the time to pose with every single guest who wanted a photo op.
The West End Shop on the second floor Men's Department is barely recognizable. Gone are the poorly-fitted discounted suits, racks and racks of black wool coats and cheesy dress shirts. The Bay is ready to play ball and brand like Hugo Boss, Strellson, Ben Sherman, Penguin, Desigual are ready to do it with them. The space is airy and bright. The days of over-cramped merchandising are over. hip + urban guys in Toronto are going to benefit from all the new brands that are breathing life into the oldest department store in Canada.
Shopping for your hip + urban guy is about to get easier too. We loved all the plaids and jackets that we saw in the Ben Sherman collection. Dan Levy (below, with me!) from MTV was also on hand for the celebration. We also spotted HGTV design guru, Peter Fallico and Global Weather Man, Anthony Farnell among the mix of fun fashion-types who nibbled on Sashimi salads and sipped pear martinis.
The Glenfiddich Scotch Tasting gave us an education on different flavours to look for and a basic how-to. The signature martinis and wine floated around throughout the crowd and at two busy bar stations.
We spotted this cheeky European brand of swim shorts, Villebrequin - now at The Bay!
It can't be all work. We caught up with one of our freelance writers, Nelu Handa and Muchmusic VJ, Sarah Taylor.
Alex Bilodeau, Lisa Ng, Paul St. Onge and Steve Yzerman - we would make a really cool floor hockey team!
Congratulations to The Bay for putting on such a fab event!
