The Hip & Urban Girl's Guide took a peek inside the celebrity gifting lounge, Tastemakers at the 25th Annual Gemini Awards on Friday night. Nominees and presenters were gifted with some of the season's hottest swag and we were able to get some ideas for the holidays!
Rick Mercer reads a recordable story book from Hallmark
One of our favourite finds were the recordable story books from Hallmark. Perfect for your cutie niece, nephew or cousins that live far away. Record yourself reading the story and send away for their Christmas gift. Love this idea! Embarrassingly, I didn't even know these existed until I saw them on an episode of Teen Mom.
Stand-up Christmas pop-up cards that multi-task. The one on the left turns into a light-up winter village home. We're thinking it's perfect for our Moms! The ones on the right can be hung up directly on your Christmas tree. I bet you could re-use it as a giant gift tag afterwards. It's a great way to display your holiday cards.

The swag bag-o-fun full of fantastic products
Bumped into presenter, Devon Bostick. We did a little Canadian movie together once called, Citizen Duane. I played Julie, the intern. He went on to work with Atom Egoyan in Adoration and I started this blog - go figure. Devon is absolutely lovely and his Dad taught me stage fighting classes back in high school. Funny!
The *BEST* toner I have ever come across is from a Canadian company called Soya Boutique. It's a spray toner that made my skin so incredibly smooth that I have never found that same consistency and texture with any other brand. The line is natural, eco-friendly, baby-safe and infused with soy. Soya Boutique products are available through their online store and the prices are incredibly affordable for such a luxurious collection. Highly recommend it.
Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics set-up a mini-mani salon to get celebs red carpet-ready. Each colour has its very sassy name printed all over the bottle. The nail polish is free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP. They retail for $15 and each have a cheeky drink pairing on their website. We scored a very dark purple colour named 'Booty Call'.
We were dazzled by the high-quality jewellery from MMCrystal. Michelle Merizzi's pieces provided tons of sparkle and bling to the lounge. The intricate designs of the cuffs and necklaces are all handmade in Providence, Rhode Island after being designed here in Canada. She uses the finest swarovski crystal, .925 silver and 22-karat gold.
Our homegrown talent were treated to some sweet treats! We can't wait to see what the Tastemakers Lounge in Toronto comes up next. Here is a look inside their TIFF gifting suite this past September.
