Dogs of all shapes and sizes outnumbered human companions and came out to play at the first ever, Winter Woofstock held last month at the CNE’s Direct Energy Center.
Woofstock is the largest festival for dogs in North America and highlights of the weekend include a canine fashion show, best costume contests, and Dachshund and Pug races. The venue was a virtual ‘runway’ as dogs were dressed up and decked out, proving to be a paparazzi’s delight. Despite the glitz and glamour, Woofstock also focuses on serious issues inviting Toronto Animal Services and various rescue organizations to educate on importance of adopting a homeless pet.
Woofstock is a great event for both dog-owners and non-dog owners. If you are thinking of adopting, Woofstock is a great place to start as many rescue groups are there to help you find the best dog that will suit your lifestyle. Being close to the holiday season, it is also the place to find your dog the perfect gift.
A big woofing thank you to our guest blogger Sandy and her boys, Linus and Pip for attending this event on behalf of HUG!
We're pooped for now but we'll see you at the next Woofstock on June 11 & 12, 2011!
