Villa Living on Costa Rica's Gold Coast

Ever think of renting a gorgeous million dollar villa that you could only dream about?  Well it's actually sort of doable in Costa Rica.  The four bedroom, four and a half bath villa we checked out in Reserva Conchal on the glistening Gold Coast beaches of the Pacific might just fit your next vacation bill.  A weekly rental ranges from about $600/night, but split amongst four sets of friends, couples or family members - it's only around $75 per person/night.
Villa Augustina (above) includes a full kitchen, BBQ and infinity pool to kick back in for a morning dip.  We really loved being able to cook a few of our own meals while overlooking the fourth hole of a pretty golf course.  It's like your own private cottage in Costa Rica, with beach access and lots of charming towns to explore around you.  The villa also includes maid service (twice weekly) and your gardener, Chico - who comes to clean the pool and take care of all the tropical plants and trees on the property.
I am missing the infinity pool the most...
Villa Augustina includes modern appliances, utensils and dishware

Unwinding at the end of the day on the sunny patio or in the open living space
The master bedroom is full of windows with a lush and relaxing view
Lower bedroom, each had its own ensuite bath.  The villa is a spacious 3900 sqaure feet and is a one hour drive from the main airport in Liberia.
The open beach at Reserva Conchal is very peaceful and not jammed full of lounger chairs stacked back to back.  It's sort of the opposite of what you see at an all-inclusive resort.  Villa Augustina is part of a larger resort community and we did have access to a private beach club, gym, spa, pool and restaurant on-site.  We found Costa Rica and the community we were in to be very safe.  The main problem that seems to exist, is that cars do get broken into.  So do not leave any valuables or luggage in your car.  Looking to surf?  We headed down to Playa Grande to rent boards and ride a few small waves.  The drive is about 20 minutes and the more touristy town of Tamarindo is around 30-40 minutes.
It's good to venture off the resort and we ended up at a great place called, The Shack near Playa Flamingo.  Look for their $3 frozen mixed drinks and $2 tacos at this laid-back, open air venue.  The owner of Villa Augustina provides a great list of local restaurants to explore and all are ridiculously inexpensive.  The flight down to Liberia will run you around $600 from Toronto on a charter like Sunwing Airlines.
