Dreaming Up Royal Wedding Style

Poor Kate! With the big day looming, she seems to have forgotten my personal invite. No matter. I'm totally there in spirit and plan to be armed with a cup of tea for the 3 am call time. Should my presence be requested in London at the 11th hour, I'm pulling together a Royal Wedding look that could  rub elbows at Buckingham but would work just as well at the domestic nuptials I’ll attend this year, just in case my mobile doesn’t ring.

I imagine the Queen would scoff at any look that's less than ladylike, so I'm opting for a very demure frock thats beauty is in its details. Eve Gravel is a Canadian designer who seems to have this skill mastered and wouldn't it be nice to bring the Brits a taste of our local charm? I first spied and tried on the blush toned, lace accented "Sophie's Choice" dress at the spring One of a Kind Show and am so pleased to learn that charlie boutique on Queen West just got it in store. Note the lace gloves shown. They should come with the dress they're so spot on.  The Dress: Eve Gravel Sopie’s Choice, $165 (pictured left).

The Hairpiece: Featherband Christina headband, $45
Without knowing for sure, I'm pretty confident that the unwritten dress code dictates mandatory hair accessories. Kate is, after all, infamous for her love of fascinators and fabulous hats. Amanda Wu, designer of Featherband, has wooed me with her latest designs and I won't even apologize for the pun. Her pieces are playful and priced to ensure you can't buy just one. Pictured above, Amanda models the Christina headband and I swoon. Shout out to Serena So who captured her so beautifully.

Since we are off to the UK, shouldn't we pay homage to their very talented designers? Rather than pack my skyscraper heels, I'll make a stop at Georgina Goodman's London shop and don a pair of her architectural masterpieces. Sure these lovelies are quite the splurge at roughly $730 CDN  but oh the drama. Love ‘em! The Shoes: Georgina Goodman Dawson pumps, £465.00 (right).

You can bet the Royals will be decked out in jewels that sparkle something fierce. I’ll wear Lauren Elan’s Tyler necklace of a more subtle bling to fit in without looking too faux and tucked under my arm, this heart-shaped clutch from Town Shoes. With the whole world set to watch Cinderella’s fairy tale come true, it just seems like the right thing to do. The Finishing Touches: Lauren Elan Tyler necklace, $125 and Town Shoes Red Carpet Collection clutch, $79 (above).
