Toronto got a sneak peek of its new ping-pong club at a pre-launch party inside The Burroughes Building on June 7th. SPiN Toronto, a ping pong social club, is opening its first Canadian franchise location this summer with Susan Sarandon as one of the operating partners of the Spin chain. She stopped by late last night with friend, Geena Davis in tow for the pre-launch celebration.
The crowd was mesmerized by the mad table tennis skills of Soo Yeon Lee (above left), a gorgeous model turned ping-pong star. Her sleek, towering figure huddled back and forth over the table, knocking the little plastic ball at every turn. It's impressive how far back the players stand from the table and how precise their shots can be. This ain't no church basement sport any more. We're predicting that it's going to give bowling and shooting a pool a run for its money.
The new 12,000-square-foot space will feature 12 of the highest quality tables, Olympic-quality flooring, custom designed lighting, two full bars and a restaurant. Menu highlights include a selection of sharing plates, mini tacos, gourmet grilled cheese and a variety of sliders. SPiN will be an easy draw for big groups and corporate events.
SPiN Toronto will be open to members and walk-in guests. The club will offer both individual and family memberships starting at $50 per month or $500 per year, or hourly rates starting at $10 for 30 minutes. SPiN clubs also exist in New York, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and now, Toronto.
