SPIN Ping-Pong Lounge Opens in Toronto

Ping-Pong tables make me think of day camps and church basements. A totally PG way to pass rainy afternoons with a side of pop and chips. SPIN Toronto is making Ping-Pong fun again in a basement lounge just off of King Street with a fully loaded bar and snacks that would put Oreos and lemonade to shame. Think mini tacos, grilled cheese, sliders and fried shrimp.

The Toronto location is the first Canadian franchise with actress Susan Sarandon as a partner. She was also on-hand with a few other Ping-Pong pros this week to promote the opening of SPIN. Super blogstar, Raymi the Minx, photographer Jessica Blaine Smith and I decided to give this a go and surprisingly, we weren't all that bad. Ping-Pong is an easy sport to pick-up and just requires some decent hand-eye co-ordination. We were not so good after a few cocktails...

Jessica works her mad skills...

Like bowling or shooting pool, Ping-Pong at SPIN is meant to be a casual activity that you can enjoy over beer or cocktails for a fun retro night out with friends. Instead of just sitting around all night at a bar - you can actually get some exercise! After about fifteen minutes of Ping-Pong my heart was actually pumping.
The 12,000-square-foot club features 12 of the highest quality tables, Olympic-quality flooring, custom-designed lighting, two full bars and change rooms. Member rates start at $5 for 30 minutes ($10 for non-members). Individual and family memberships are also available starting at $40 per month or $400 per year.
SPIN is open seven days a week from 11 AM - Midnight on Sunday/Monday 11 AM - 2 AM Tuesday to Saturday. SPIN is located at 461 King St. W., Lower Level, Toronto. Visit for more details
