Making Spirits Bright: Holiday Drink Guide

Tis the season for festive cocktails. Add some of these holiday drinks to your party menu for easy entertaining. They might even make listening to Aunt Lucy’s questions on why you’re still not married a little more bearable, but just make sure to enjoy responsibly!

Café Mocha
1oz Carolans Irish Cream ($24.95 at LCBO)
1/2oz McGuinness Crème de Cacao White
Coffee

Prepare an Irish coffee mug with festive ‘snowflake’ rim by melting white chocolate chips, dipping the rim into the melted chocolate and then sprinkling with coconut. Put in the fridge to harden before pouring in the beverage. Add the spirits and top with fresh coffee. Enjoy while piping hot.

Eggnog Martini
1oz Carolans Irish Cream ($24.95 at LCBO)
1oz Jameson Irish Whiskey ($29.99 at LCBO)
4oz Eggnog
Nutmeg

In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, add Carolans, whiskey and eggnog. Shake to chill and strain into martini glass. Add a dash of nutmeg on top. Garnish with mint & cranberry ‘holly’ accent by skewering cranberries and fresh mint on a cocktail pick.

Orient Berry
2 oz Absolute Orient Apple Vodka ($24.99 at LCBO)
3 oz Blueberry Juice

Shake ingredients over ice and pour into a chilled martini glass, Garnish with fresh blueberries.

Cinnamon Toast
1 oz Lamb’s Black Sheep Spiced Rum
5 oz Apple Cider
1 Cinnamon Stick

Fill rocks glass with ice, and add Rum topped chilled apple cider. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Manhattan
1 oz Wiser’s De Luxe
¼ oz Sweet Vermouth
Dash of Bitters
1 Maraschino Cherry
Ice

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and add sweet vermouth and bitters. Shake and strain into a rocks glass, and garnish with a Maraschino cherry.
