Hip Hotel - The Placencia Resort, Belize

Belize seems to be the hip new hot spot for vacations. If you watched the Bachelor recently, you would have seen what this country has to offer.
Belize City is a mere 4 1/2 hour flight from Toronto and offers everything you would want - great food, sandy beaches, scuba diving & snorkeling, Mayan Ruins and even rainforests.

The Placencia is located in the Southern part of the country on a peninsula. It is currently a relatively underdeveloped area of the country which makes it a prime location for a nice, quiet, romantic vacation. If you are looking for discos and partying, this is not the spot for you.
The Placencia is a beautiful, quaint resort that has only ninety rooms that is only about eight years old. Upon arrival you are greeted with yummy rum punch and shown to your room.
The infinity pool is stunning and relaxing
The sandy beach is calm and full of starfish
The buffet is located in a gazebo out on the water which gave it all a very tropical feel. The food is delicious and the chef will work with you on any food requirements that you may have.
The highlight of the food: most of the fruits and vegetables are grown right on the resort in their organic garden. We are talking papaya, pineapples, squash, tomatoes, bananas - they grow it all.
The Placencia offers a variety of daily excursions to guests for an additional cost and they range from diving trips to tubing down a river in rainforest to visiting the Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve. Kayak and bikes are available at the resort for no additional cost.
You can book your stay independently through The Placencia or Sunwing offers all-inclusive packages here.

  1. I stayed at this resort and it is very nice. However the food does get old and is pretty much the same nightly. There is no nightlife and the bar is typically closed by 9...

When the investors come they get more attention and are a bit stuck up to other guests.

All in all it is a nice place with a huge pool and great drinks at the pool bar. Worth it if you don't care for nightlife and just want to relax on the beach or by the pool all day.
