Vintage Love At The Brooklyn Flea

During our recent trip to New York, we found ourselves wandering across the Brooklyn Bridge and spent a lovely afternoon scouring for finds at The Brooklyn Flea. Whenever I'm in NYC, it's always such a whirlwind that I have never made it over to Brooklyn. So this was my first visit and a chance to look through one of the top flea markets in the country.
The winter location of the Brooklyn Flea is held inside an old bank-turned event space which turns into the flea market on weekends. We're not lying when we say that every nook and cranny is crammed full of treasures inside this gorgeous historic building. There are lots of vintage finds on all three floors, plus an artisan food court full of homemade goodies in the basement. Come hungry!
Frames from the 50s for a steal (above). I was tempted to bring a pair back and have my prescription popped into them. I also spotted lots of brand new, never-worn vintage sunglasses if you're looking for something truly authentic.

Looking for seashells for your bathroom? You're in luck. Lots of silver and brass candlestick holders and old serving pieces.
Did you ever have a pair of these duck shoes when you were little?
Old typewriters that have been salvaged and restored
Hotel number keychains
Lot of vintage clothing, leather bags, shoes and home decor. I found the prices incredibly competitive and reasonable. There are definitely deals to be found and you can always haggle a little - just make sure your offer is reasonable and not an insult.
Retro boxes and worn books looking for a home
Who knows what you'll find...
Ahhhhhh....the hours I have spent one of these old Game Boys playing Tetris in black and white. Now I sound really old - THIS is vintage!!
Postcards, posters, toys and even new items from local artists on the main floor. Check back with us later this week when we feature all The Underground Eats + Food from The Brooklyn Flea. It's worth the trip to Brooklyn, do try to squeeze it in if you can - it's a great way to spend the afternoon and a break from all the big box chains in Manhattan.
