We Kick-off The Summer Concert Season!

A sponsored hip + urban girl post.

I have seen countless summer concerts at The Molson Amphitheatre – it’s one of my favourite Toronto venues. Usually this means sitting out on the lawns or in the 400-level trying to catch a glimpse of my favourite band. However this time around, things were a little different because we got to enjoy the show like VIPs along with the winners from Amex’s Fans With Benefits contest.

After arriving for The Dave Matthews concert on Saturday, I was quickly escorted by an American Express representative through the Front Of The Line entrance to the American Express Lounge in the Amex Pavilion. I had my picture taken in red carpet style with fellow Amex Ambassadors, Catriona from Coco & Cowe and Jen from She Does the City. We were super excited to hang with the winners from the Amex Fans With Benefits contest all of whom were being treated to Amex’s personalized service and unique benefits inside the American Express Lounge.

Do you have an American Express card? If so, you’ll also receive VIP access to the American Express Lounge, located on stage right of the Amphitheatre. Inside, we were treated to private washrooms, a VIP bar (with almost no line-up), lounge seating, an outdoor patio and even a live stream of the concert - so we didn’t miss a beat! The lounge is available to Amex Cardmembers for most concerts; just make sure to flash your card at the door, and get separate FOTL entry, too! In addition to first dibs to premium tickets via Amex’s Front Of The Line program, the lounge is another unique benefit for Cardmembers.

For The Dave Matthews Band, Amex hosted a pre-concert dinner in the lounge for all winners  who had entered through the American Express Facebook page – complete with cocktails, a candy bar, dinner and a champagne toast! The event was created as a thank you to Facebook fans for being part of the community, and to give them a taste of the many perks available to Cardmembers. If you haven’t checked this page out yet – go!

Facebook contest winner Rick Dumont (above, right) shared his thoughts on the Amex experience and lounge, “I kind of compare this to a step up, over and above of the Amex airport lounges. If you want to go relax and have some food and some drinks – this is like that, but even more. The ambiance, décor and the staff are really making this a great opening for the band. You’re not in line, you’re stress-free – it’s great here.” We definitely agree.

Guests even got a little crazy inside the Amex superbooth!
After dinner, we headed over to our seats inside the American Express Box! We had an amazing centre view, a dedicated server and bar height seats with a table inside our booth to hold our drinks and snacks. It was really special to be treated to the best seats in the house by our friends at American Express.

The Dave Matthews Band rocked out to a two-hour plus set and an encore that had the whole audience singing along. Even when the grey clouds burst open and rained on the lawn seating halfway through the show, the crowd kept cheering while busting out their umbrellas and rain ponchos.

The evening ended with a private after-party and concert by Blind Pilot – the band who opened for Dave Matthews earlier that night. They sang emo tunes on the roof of the American Express Lounge under a string of large bulb patio lights. Fans With Benefits winners enjoyed the live music with special patio seating, a private bar, complimentary food and a view of the Toronto skyline.

It was a dreamy end to a perfect summer night under the stars. We’re definitely looking forward to more concerts at the Molson Amphitheatre with American Express.
