Summer Beauty Roundup

No more hiding in toques, boots and big puffy Canada Goose jackets... summer is here! At HUG we get tons of samples and after a month of sloughing, slathering and pampering, these eight products really stood out and made the final cut for this season's Beauty Roundup.

Mark Anthony Sea Kelp Extreme Rescue Mud

We all know colour fades easily in the sun so restore your lovely locks with this deep repair for extra dry, damaged hair. It is formulated with Sea Kelp to correct, hydrate and strengthen. Love: that we can use it weekly to moisturize and add shine. It is sulfate, paraben and DEA free and has the goodness of UV Protectors! Available: Shoppers Drug Mart $15

Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover

One day you are feeling blue, then a chirpy coral but then you heard mint green was the coolest thing. For even the most hard-to-remove nail polish, this remover effortlessly takes off lacquers. Love: stick your nail in the bottle, twist and turn and voila, all colour is removed! Great for traveling too. Available: Sephora $11

Korres Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum

This gel base serum goes on light (applied alone or under your sunscreen) and is packed with ultra-concentrated ingredients including vitamin C and wild rose oil - known for smoothing lines, instant firming and boosting radiance so you can glow like the sun. Love: The Korres line which originates from Athens, Greece is known for developing eco-friendly natural products. Available: Sephora $49

Fresh Sugar Lychee Eau De Parfum

This has been my signature summer scent for 2 years now because it reminds me of simple beach days on some faraway island. It's a scent that doesn't smell fake or get tiring. It sparkles with tart citrus, juicy lychee, and sweet mango! Love: the roll-on version makes it easy to store in my office desk drawer or purse. Available: Sephora $23

Juara Rose & Willow Bark Blemish-Free Mask

Loaded with natural blemish-fighting ingredients, this mask has a sweet rosy cinnamon bark scent and is the ultimate triple threat - it combats oily skin, reduces pore visibility and attacks those zits head on! Love: gentle enough to use 1-3 times weekly and is great for ridding the pore-clogging smog and greasy toxins that come with city living. It is also a 100% vegetarian product. Available: Hammam Spa (602 King St W) $35

Sugar Lip Treatment

I'm a lip gloss junkie and this is by the far the best lip product I've used! Blending reparative oils and waxes with real sugar, this treatment goes on super silky smooth and lasts a good few hours before having to reapply. Love: It has SPF 15 and comes in clear plus 5 tinted shades. Available: Sephora $22

Burt's Bees

I love all their natural green-friendly products but these are my 2 absolute favourites. I used them both religiously while in Thailand!

These Facial Towelettes with white tea extract is the perfect pick me up on hot days. Love: they definitely come in handy to quickly remove oil and makeup but I like using them mid-day or after the gym to freshen up. No rinsing required! Available: Shoppers Drug Mart $10

The After Sun Soother can be used on both face and body. It is intensely hydrating, quick-absorbing and packed with goodness like coconut oil, bee pollen and linden extract to calm sun drenched skin. Love: the cooling sensation, crisp aloe vera scent and how it prolongs my tan. Available: Shoppers Drug Mart $16

  1. I need to pick up the After Sun Soother, I wish I had known about it before I went to Mexico.

  2. The Sugar Lip Treatment by Fresh is really great! I have one in Plum & love the hint of colour it leaves. Feels great on too!

A new favourite summer product of mine is Capital Soleil SPF 50 Ultra Light Fluid Sunscreen by Vichy. It's on the more pricey side, but worth the extra money. It's a small bottle, but a little goes a long way. It goes on super light, doesn't leave a heavy or greasy feeling on my face like most facial sunscreens and doesn't clog my pores. It's great under make up, even on super hot days! It also never feels like I'm wearing sunscreen & it's paraben free. I purchased it on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for about $18-20.

  3. Hi Leesh! Definitely get this product and save your skin from drying out. It's not too late, summer has just begun :)
