Our August Beauty Round-up!

A lot of interesting beauty products come across our desk in any given month. Here are the ones we like best and are worth sharing with our fellow hip + urban girls.
1) Juicy Bamboo Cleansing Cloths, $18 - Not only do they smell delicious, these 100% biodegradable face wipes are alcohol, sulfate and paraben-free. Instead, they are soaked in honey, amino acids, sunflower oil and plant-based essential oils. They also did a thorough job removing my make-up and mascara. The texture is quite soft on the skin and it didn't irritate it at all. I also love that they are made from bamboo and the wipes are an easy way to take everything off for your face before you go to bed.

2) Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Highlighter, $45 - I've been using this highlighter religiously around my cheekbones and eyes to give them a pop of shimmer. I find that it makes me look awake and fresh - sort of like that dewy look trend but better. The product goes on quite smoothly and lasts for hours. The rose-gold shade is also universally flattering and the formulation is filled with minerals.

3) L'Oreal's Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream, $17 - So I've been wasting my time layering moisturizer, primer and then foundation onto my skin every morning. The BB cream takes all three of those products and rolls it into one hand tube. I actually like it better than my tinted moisturizer and am now a BB cream convert. I've tried other brands before, but I feel that the L'Oreal version is higher in quality and provides the best coverage. It hydrates and corrects using little micro beads that break up and then adjusts to your skin tone. It comes on white so you can see the application, but then turns into a skin shade. It gave my skin a nice even finish. Just make sure you apply sunscreen 15 minutes before for sun protection and to allow it to properly absorb before applying the BB Cream.

4) Essie Stylenomics 2012 Fall Collection, $10 - We are loving the deep hues that make us want to cozy right up to fall style. The brand presents rich refined colours without breaking the bank, hence the collection name. Think burgundy, deep reds, a cozy mauve and cool greys.
5) Clarisonic Mia 2, $175 - Last but not least, my absolute favourite beauty product of the summer - my new Clarisonic skin cleansing brush. This version features two speeds and is rechargeable and waterproof, which means you can bring it into the shower. The vibrating skin brush is much more gentle on skin than I had anticipated and it tells you by a pulsing indicator when it's time to move one. Clarisonic suggests 20 seconds each for your forehead and nose, then 10 seconds for each cheek.

My skin feels a lot of softer and cleaner with a lot less blackheads to show for it. I actually enjoy washing my face now and find it really easy and sort of fun to do. I can definitely feel a difference and my skin is actually absorbing moisturizers and serums more deeply now that my pores are less clogged. A sensitive brush head, travel case and charger were all included. I highly recommend it.
