Book Review: Lauren Conrad Style + Giveaway!

OK firstly, I have to admit that I'm a bit of an LC fan having stalked watched her ups and downs on Laguna Beach and then on The Hills. So I was totally intrigued when Ms. Conrad put out a style guide for her legions of fans, pitching another tent peg into her fashion empire.

Lauren Conrad Style is written by LC with the help of Elise Loehnen. The book is filled with stunning and inspiring photos of that natural Californian beauty. The whole thing sort of harkens back to what I learned reading teen magazines (like Seventeen and YM) and putting it all into a handy and practical book. It's not rocket science - it's just straightforward common sense type of stuff.

Having fallen into a downward spiral of wardrobe choices during university - think Uggs, Crocs, sweatpants, hoodies and logo tees all the time, I was probably in need of a refresh. My closet has strayed in so many different directions that I can no longer keep track. So in comes the style guide.

Conrad keeps it all pretty light, doesn't talk down to the reader and infuses her little LA anecdotes. She tackles key pieces, wardrobe repair, how-to organize your clothes, getting things tailored, how-to edit your closet with lots of excellent pointers and style tips. I was actually surprised by how much I liked this book. There are chapters on shoes, makeup, hair, handbags - all tricks that Lauren has learned from being in the entertainment biz since she was 18. It's nice to read something that gets back to basics - because really, I'm clueless pretty much half the time.

Lauren will also be coming out with her very own beauty guide in early October entitled Lauren Conrad Beauty. Her latest book in her teen fiction series, The Fame Game is in-stores now.

Book Giveaway! Want to win a copy of Lauren Conrad Style? Give us your favourite Lauren Conrad line or moment from Laguna Beach or The Hills in our comments section below with your email address (so we can contact you). Open to Canadian addresses only. Contest ends on Friday August 24th, 2012 at 5 pm. Good luck!

  5. I also love LC! This is one of my favs! She's so witty and well spoken!

“Boys are like purses. You're always gonna have that one boy that you're always comfortable with and you know you'll always kind of like. That's your purse that you wear everywhere. Then you have that gorgeous bag that you want everyone to see you with but the gorgeous bag is usually an asshole or costs a lot of money. Then you have those other purses that you really like but you really don't want to be seen with”

  8. LB and The Hills were such a guilty pleasure for my group of friends. My fave LB quote is:
Stephen: Do you think you'll find someone?
LC: I don't want to look for someone, I want someone to find me.

  15. I enjoyed this dramatic quote from Lauren, "I don't think any good has ever come from me having an opinion on their relationship, so let's leave it at that!" on heidi's wedding, so dipomatic.

    My favourite Lauren Conrad quote:
Lauren-"Every girl wants to be the one girl that can change that guy"
Lo-"But why do you have to have a guy that you have to change? Don't you want to meet somebody that's good already?"
    Lauren-"That's too easy"

  17. My favourite moment from The Hills is when Lisa Love asks if she regrets not going to Paris, in the second season. I think it taught everyone young woman in that moment that when it comes to Paris or a guy - CHOOSE PARIS! (seriously, guys with accents are cuter anyways, lol!) ksheppard86@gmail.com
