Tamika's Divalicious Style

For the past few years, the end of July has marked a few special things for me. First, the descent into my 30s (way more fun than being a twenty-something FYI) and second, the annual summer bash, Divalicious, hosted by my retail event biz, Shop Socials and the female fitness powerhouse, DivaGirl Fitness.

Now in it's fourth year, Divalicious 4 treats 400+ women to a night of complimentary beauty services, dance fitness workshops, shopping amongst 30+ amazing local brands and so much more. Of course, as the co-host and resident "fashionista", my biggest challenge is deciding what to wear.

Here are few inspiration looks I came up while trying to come up with my Divalicious Style. They'll take you through a MAJOR girl's night out...or any summer soiree that beckons your inner diva to shine:
Look #1: Olympic Inspired
Fashion is all about what's current so why not pay homage to our 2012 Olympic team with Canadian designed pieces like this tomato red Pink Tartan shift and go for the gold accessories by Shop For Jayu. I recommend a nod to the Queen with a Union Jack bag and McQueen peep toes (yes, expensive...but totally worth it).
Look #2: Tribal Clash

Summer is no time to play it safe, so why not dare to be different by mixing up tribal patterns to create your own little sound clash. Accessories can be understated save for a cocktail ring like my pick from Stella & Dot.

Look #3: Digital Print

If you're going to go with neutrals, I'd elevate traditional black & white with a cool digital print. Don't forget a statement pendant like my pick from indie designer Laura Ford, serious platforms and an envelope clutch for accessories. Then finish off your look with flirty bronzed skin (via and a great coral blush that's good for your skin from Marie Natie.
Look #4: Playful Pastels
I really love the soft colours in stores this summer. If you do too, try a breezy pastel combo that's soft, pretty and made for the heat. My pick includes a cut-out mint 'mullet' dress paired with colour-blocked wedge heels, a great clutch from Corazon de Melon finished off with a swipe of lip plumping gloss. The perfect look for a night on the patio.

Look #5: What I'm Wearing!

In the end, I struck gold and will be wearing a gorgeous printed Anna Sui number thanks to the amazing gals at Rent frock Repeat. While the accessories aren't set in stone, pairing with gold, purple and a hit of shocking orange might be the winning combination.
If you're free on Monday, August 13th from 7 PM - 10 PM, love $4 Hpnotiq cocktails and fabulous convo, get dolled up (or come as you are) and join me at Divalicious 4. Tickets are $15 and...we've got great swag including issues of Dress to Kill magazine and sparkly Psalms 91:1 studs for the first 100 gals through door.
Buy your tickets online at and I'll see you there. I'll be the one chatting away in a gorge purple dress.
