YOLO! The Killers, W Hotel and Buddakan NYC

The Killers took over The Big Apple on Tuesday and we were there singing our hearts out to Mr. Brightside. You may have caught the performance via the UNSTAGED livestream but if you missed it (or want to see it again), American Express along with VEVO and YouTube is showing highlights HERE.

#YOLO - You Only Live Once! We made that the motto of our trip and Amex was there pulling out all the red carpets for us.

We stayed at the swanky W Hotel in Times Square. Now if you haven't stayed in a W before I highly recommend it! They are the perfect example of what I like to call "lifestyle accommodations".

Service is top notch, the rooms have a contemporary-lux feel, they stock their bathrooms with Bliss products (mmmm lemongrass + sage) and play the best elevator music!

Each hotel is uniquely inspired by its destination, mixing cutting-edge design with local influences and creating a place to relax and work by day and mingle and play by night at their lobby bar.

Chilling out at The Living Room hotel lounge with Amex Ambassadors: Jen from shedoesthecity.com, Catriona from cocoandcowe.com and Tyrone from 1loveto.com.

Check it out for yourself! W Hotels is also part of the Starwood Hotels Group. That means you can easily transfer your Amex points 1:1 to Starwood Preferred Guest points if you have the Amex Gold Rewards or Platinum Card.

We piled into huge Lincoln SUV's and head to the show...

The Killers debuted their new album, Battle Born at the Paradise Theater in The Bronx. Yup, I know what you are thinking because we all thought the same thing! These dudes can sell out anywhere so why did they pick the neck of those woods?! Well we were in for a surprise...

Paradise Theater is 80 years old and absolutely beautiful! It is elegant like the Sistine Chapel with all the Greco-Roman statuary, marble columns and murals of fluffy clouds and winged cherubs on the ceiling. It's definitely worth the 40 minute drive from Manhattan to take in an event at this iconic landmark building.

The highlight of the night for me was hearing “Mr. Brightside” and "Forever Young" live! At the first note, the crowd went wild, screaming and jumping... I'm not sure if it was because the theatre was so old or if it was supposed to do that, but the whole balcony was literally bouncing up and down! The Killers delivered a fun show and totally killed it!

Presale tickets for Cardmembers sold out within hours so it was no surprise the theatre was packed with fans. The UNSTAGED unique concert experience allowed fans from all over the world to tune in via live stream from their computers and mobile devices - so it's like being there with us!

Next Up, Food Coma!

Buddakan in the Meatpacking District is one of my favourite restaurants in NYC. It's very hip + urban! Buddakan is a supersize cocktail lounge that also serves up well-portioned dishes nipped with a creative Asian-fusion flare.

We spent 3 hours indulging in this 13 course grand feast! Everything is tapas style so make sure you try the chilli rock shrimp, peking duck salad and edamame dumplings. You can't go wrong with any of the desserts, they are all deliciously divine!

  1. I love how W hotels stock Bliss products. It's good to know when a hotel has good quality products. It leaves more luggage room for shopping.

Buddakan is on my bucket list of NYC restos.
