Ox blood (basically interchangeable with wine, burgundy, bordeaux, or plum) is a great go to shade if you want to experiment with coloured denim, but don't want to go too bold. Try these Blank Super Skinny Jeans via eLUXE.ca, $98 paired with neutrals as shown, or add a pop of contrasting colour. Ox blood is also a great colour to try first if you typically choose black because of it's slimming effect. It's dark enough that if you dress head to toe merlot with pieces that flatter, you'll get a long and lean silhouette.
Full on mustard can be a little much to take on depending on skin tone but a great print blouse like this silk blouse via Joe Fresh, $49, can make it a little more wearable if you're worried the colour might be wearing you. Layer under a sweater, jacket or vest if you only want a hint of the hue or go for a bag, chunky collar or cocktail ring to add a small pop to neutrals like camel, cream or even grey. p.s. LOVE mustard with denim!
The easiest way to be on trend this fall is to sport something cobalt. If you can't see yourself going head to toe in merlot or venturing into colour blocking with mustard, this is the colour for you. Cobalt and black is the colour combo of the season so choose a silhouette that calls for a little attention like a sheer blouse or a peplum sleeveless top like this one from Zara, $59.90 and mix in your favourite black pieces to look instantly chic. I also love cobalt with leopard print for something a little unexpected.
Last, but certainly not least, is one of my favourite jewel tones, emerald. I love to use green as a neutral year round and pair with other colours of the season, and I just love it with winter pastels like this H&M look shown (blazer, $49.95 / trousers, $29.95). Emerald is also a great choice for your holiday frocks or footwear. It's festive, but completely wearable outside of the season so feel free to spend a little more with an eye to wear your new emerald purchase again and again.
So with that, have fun with colour for fall, HUGs! After all, why should the changing leaves have all the fun?
