The Hug Fall Movie Guide!

If you weren’t able to attend the Toronto International Film Festival, not to worry, you’re still able to see many of the films we suggested for fall viewing. Here are our picks for October and November.
Opening on October 12 is Ava Duvernay’s Middle of Nowhere. Ava won the best director prize at Sundance for this drama about a woman (Emayatzy Corinealdi) who is deceived as to her husband’s innocence and makes sacrifices while he’s in prison.
Also opening that weekend is the anticipated comedy/thriller Seven Psychopaths follows a screenwriter who deals with the humor and chaos after his friends steal a mobster’s Shih Tzu. Just the cast alone, Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, and Christopher Walken make it a must-see!

Tom Hanks and Halle Berry lead another killer cast in Cloud Atlas (October 26).  With their first venture into Sci-fi, the Wachowski Brothers explore reincarnation, time travel, and how lives intertwine due to a single moment of kindness.

Bella and Bond are back for November but first RZA brings us his directorial debut, The Man with the Iron Fists (November 2). Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu star in this martial arts film about a craftsman who must protect his community in feudal China.

Sean Penn and Francis McDormand star in This Must Be The Place. A story that explores the relationship between father and son, Auschwitz, and revenge as a former rock star goes to New York to make peace with his father.

The Twilight Saga concludes on November 16th as continuing an excellent depiction of the brooding angst of being a teenager. Also opening that weekend is The Details starring Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney, and Ray Liotta, is a dark comedy about a couple who have a raccoon issue in their backyard that triggers all kinds of mayhem.
For horror lovers, don’t miss The ABC’s of Death (November 9th), a sequence of short films by master directors that touches on our fears through facing mortality, sexism, eating disorders among just a few of other topics.
James Bond is back! In Skyfall, M plays a more prominent role as Bond learns to listen and appreciate her as we delve into her past. Helen McCrory is his love interest and Javier Bardem plays the villain. Ralph Fiennes also co-stars.
Also to look forward to this fall are the comedy Silver Linings Playbook starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence and Ang Lee’s Life of Pi based on the award winning novel by Yann Martel as well as the Hitchcock romance starring Anthony Hopkins and Scarlett Johansson.

Lots to see before the holiday rush! Which movies are you looking forward to this fall?
