Checking In: The Peninsula Hotel, Chicago

The gorgeous pool & spa area
Hello Chicago! I love the windy city and it was our second stop on our Route 66 Road Trip. By this point in our trip, both Paul and I were really looking forward to being pampered in five-star luxury at The Peninsula Hotel in Chicago. After a long drive from Ann Arbor, Michigan, we arrived at the hotel and relaxed instantly as someone valet-parked our car and a bellman whisked away our bags. It's really the little things you come to appreciate when you travel for a living.

After a speedy check-in we ooohh'd and ahhhh'd once we were shown our enormous suite in the heart of the Magnificient Mile, the main shopping district in Chicago. I squealed with delight as I spotted Neiman Marcus and Saks from my hotel window high above in the sky. We were right in the middle of the action and walking distance to everything. Once our car was parked, we didn't see it again until we left Chicago. The money you spend splurging on a room at The Peninsula, will be saved from the cab fare you won't be spending.

Our sweet suite had lots of lounge space, a desk with a printer/fax machine to work from and quite possibly the most luxurious bathroom I have ever seen! I considered moving right into the oversized soaking tub. We never felt crowded or cramped.
The space is clutter-free and the classic neutral tones are relaxing and easy on the eyes. Everything in the room works at a touch of a button, so you're not spending time trying to figure out the heating system or looking for a light switch - they are all clearly labelled.
If you have time, make sure to head up to the rooftop pool and hot tub for an end-of-the-day dip. There was even a lovely outdoor terrace with comfortable loungers to soak up some vitamin D and read a book.
One of my favourite features of the hotel was the use of The Peninsula Chicago bespoke BMW which provides a complimentary car service for all guests based on availability. I got a lift to Millenium Park for a quick afternoon stroll and jog. The car was ready and waiting for me as soon as I stepped out of the hotel.
My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend at The Peninsula Chicago. We did have time to enjoy their Afternoon Tea service and wrote about it here. I can't wait to check out more Peninsula properties in the future, I am seriously converted.
If you are planning a romantic getaway, girls shopping weekend or mother/daughter trip to Chicago I would definitely splurge on this luxurious hotel just for the convenience factor and all the amazing amenities. To learn more visit:
