HUG Update: Cookies & Champagne Party

Cookies + Champagne has been HUG's signature event for the past two years. It's the party that brings our readers together and kicks off the holiday season.


Since Lisa and I are both in California at this time, we are postponing Cookies + Champagne to Tuesday, February 12. Our friends at American Express Canada will be sponsoring the event and we promise that it will be worth the wait! Also for the first time, all hip + urban guys are invited! Tickets go on sale in the new year so stay tuned...

Meanwhile if you are planning to host your own Cookie Exchanges with co-workers and friends, here are some of our favourite holiday dessert recipes. Happy Baking!

Matcha Almond Shortbread: This is not your gram's shortbread! We're taking one of our classic holiday favourites and giving it an Asian-inspired twist, and not to mention that the matcha adds a lovely hint of festive green.

Carrot Cake Pops: Cupcakes are so 2011 so we rather indulge in these grabbable goodies on a stick instead. The bite-size carrot cake pieces are almost too cute to eat!

Red Velvet Whoopie Pie: A year round favourite but for the holidays, we pair red velvet cookies with a luscious cream cheese-based filling. Nomnom.

Chocolaty Melting Snowmen: Looks like Frosty got a little overheated! Use homemade frosting, peanut butter cups and candies to add a cute snowman topper to a chewy chocolate cookie.

Hot Chocolate Sticks: Before you sip, stir your hot chocolate! Using straws, chocolate molds and sprinkles, you can easily make hot chocolate sticks to give your cocoa that extra boost of chocolate.

Chocolaty Caramel-Nut S'more Bars: Bring a campfire favorite to your next holiday party! Chocolate wafer cookies take the place of graham crackers, but ooey-gooey marshmallows and melted chocolate make a familiar appearance in these s'more bars.
