Ristorante il Teatro @ Wynn Hotel Macau

Ristorante il Teatro named after the Italian word for "theater" is a sensory overload of performance, attentive service, a vast wine list and extraordinary food. It's one of Wynn Hotel's signature restaurants and the #4 ranked restaurant in Macau according to Trip Advisor.

Enter Foodie Heaven:
Anthony Alaimo, Chef de Cuisine and his dedicated team skillfully work their magic on these eight decadent small plates that make up their tasting menu.

Now I'm a big fan of tasting menus especially when I'm traveling. Why commit to one appetizer and entree when you can sample the creme de la creme of the menu?

So what did I eat?
Grilled Marine lobster panzanella salad with avocado and citrus dressing (below, right), Baby zucchini and grilled eggplant with fresh mozzarella and speck ham (above), Black angel hair pasta with Sicilian red prawn, baby squid and piccante salami (below, left)

Lemon Sorbet with Mint Intermezzo
Pan-seared Queen Bay scallops with artichoke risotto and cold smoked clams
Rigatoni napolitani pomodoro and braised Kurobuta port braciole

Lamb chops scottadito with pepperonata crushed potatoes and natural jus (top), Cioccolato e espresso dessert trio: Tiramisu cannoli, praline affogato and warm chocolate tart (bottom)
Tasting menu: $115 CAD ($868 MOP) per person and $182 CAD ($1368 MOP) with wine pairing.

Did you also know that Mr. Steve Wynn is vegan? Kudos to the gentleman behind the Encore and Wynn Resorts who have adopted this healthier lifestyle and wanted to make a point to the rest of the world that Vegans don't just eat salads. All his restaurants therefore, offer friendly vegetarian and vegan options. Just another reason how il Teatro differentiates itself and stands out above the foodie crowd.
Seating Assignments:
Make sure you snag a table close to the ceiling-to-floor window so you can enjoy front row privileges to the water, fire and light show. They go on every 15 minutes and rotate through a series of songs and artistic displays. If privacy is more your thing, then sink back into one of their cozy wraparound booths. Either way, expect stunning views of the Performance Lake.

The Verdict:
Excellent portion sizes, all dishes were artistically presented and the ingredients used were really fresh and globally sourced. It was love at first bite for EVERYTHING but my favourite dish was the grilled lobster and of course, the dessert! Service is first class, and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Definitely check out il Teatro next time you are in Macau -- it will be an unforgettable dining experience for you and your tastebuds!
