1) What is a typical day in the life of Priya Chopra?
Alarm clock goes off usually around 5:30am (I'm an early to bed, early to rise kind of person) and my day starts with my cappuccino in hand. I then am slightly insanely busy getting my 2.5 year old toddler and 8 month old son ready and out the door. If I'm lucky, I may have time for a dash of perfume or a hair touch up, and my makeup is always applied in my car! My day flies by between a morning workout to start, and then status meetings, phone calls, and emails, emails, emails! When we are in the middle of a few campaigns or events, that is when it gets even nuttier. My favourite part of the day is coming home to smiling children and a loving hubby who usually has a glass of vino waiting for me. Life is certainly eventful.
2) Tell us about some of the most memorable events you’ve been part of, and people you’ve worked with in your career.
At 1milk2sugars PR, we are privileged to work with some top international lifestyle brands, ranging from beauty, to fashion, to gastronomy and more. This provides an exciting scope of work and the opportunity to be a small part of bringing a brand to center stage. One of the most amazing parts of the agency life is the myriad of individuals you meet daily... from visionary entrepreneurs, to marketing gurus, to emerging talents, the diversity is simply incredible. One of the more memorable times I have had was the chance to host media at Paris Fashion Week. The one-on-one time is refreshing, and overseas trips are great for bonding.
3) Where do you find inspiration?
Working in the media world, I am forever thankful to journalists that bring stories and angles of interest to the general public. I am extremely curious, so I love reading about any and all kinds of daily news stories, I get ideas from almost everywhere and everything. Since becoming a mother a few years ago, I have a heightened level of personal awareness and I also find inspiration in the innocence of children and the simple questions they ask.
4) Tell us about your neighbourhood and where are your favourite places to dine, shop and hang out in Toronto?
I am a Montrealer born and raised, but have been working and travelling to Toronto for years. I adore both cities and feel equally at home in each since I have a great network of family, friends, colleagues in both MTL and TO. Since we just officially opened our second location in downtown Toronto, I have had the chance to spend more time in the city. Some of my favorite spots of late have been Patria resto which is always bustling, Nadege for their sweet treats, and the Drake terrace for their lovely cocktails and amazing service.
5) What would you tell your 20 year-old self?
I would say to embrace the surprises life brings your way. Sometimes you may not get what you want and that very well may be a blessing in disguise. There is a saying: Life is what happens when you are busy planning, I now fully understand that. I have learn't to plan less and live more. I enjoy riding the wave.
6) What advice do you have for hip + urban girls looking to get into a PR career?
I think the best thing you can do is to be proactive and persistent. Those are my 2 p's, which I feel are the basis to penetrate a very competitive field such as lifestyle PR. Just keep at it, always with a fresh manicure on hand and smile on face.
