Hip + Urban Store: Sekai Nail and Beauty Bar

Sekai Nail and Beauty Bar is located in the trendy Queen West neighborhood with a vision to create a boutique style beauty bar using only natural, organic and fair-trade products.

Owners Nishma Jamal and Sanaa Alibhai believe that women should be educated on the products that they put on their body and the importance of avoiding harsh chemicals and parabens. Offering a wide range of services such as massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, hair removal and blowouts - Sekai Spa truly is a one stop shop.

As soon as I entered the spa on the evening of their re-launch party, I was pleasantly greeted by the friendly, cheerful owners and staff. The clean, white space felt luxurious and welcoming with a cute spread of food including mini French macarons. I was instantly handed a glass of champagne and whisked away to the basement for a facial cleanse. The esthetician performing the facial was very gentle and began by rubbing a gentle cleanser on my face. She then applied many other natural, organic products, including a face mist, moisturizer, and finished off with a warm towel and face massage. I truly felt refreshed and calm when it was complete.

Back upstairs I was offered a makeup application and hairstyling by two fabulous stylists. With my hair and makeup done, I was ready for a night on the town, and felt absolutely beautiful and spoiled.

The prices at this spa are quite reasonable, $40 for a manicure and pedicure, a basic wash and blow dry at $35, and a 30-minute refresher facial for only $50. The warm atmosphere, great location, lovely staff, natural products, and services offered made Sekai Spa a new favourite.
