Checking In: Homewood Suites – Dallas, Texas

During my recent visit to Dallas, Texas - I was invited to be a guest of Homewood Suites Dallas at a brand new location right in the middle of the downtown core. Having stayed at a long-term hotel before I knew I would have a full kitchen, spacious desk and room to look forward to.

What I didn't know about, were all the extra amenities available to guests of Homewood Suites. It's a fantastic deal for those traveling for work, in groups or with their family and it really does become a home away from home when you're gone for a long period of time. Here are few of the things I loved during my stay:

Complimentary Hot Breakfast – I love me a complimentary hot breakfast. It takes the thinking out of the start of my day because let’s face it – I’m not a morning person. I love when I can wander downstairs to grab myself a healthy option like oatmeal, fruit, a hard-boiled egg and yogurt. For those looking for something a bit heartier, the hotel serves up omelettes, hash browns, bacon and ham. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate is available in the lobby all-day.

Hotel Amenities – I have never stayed at such a fully loaded hotel that wasn’t billed as a resort. Homewood Suites Dallas features a 24-hour gym, swimming pool, ½ basketball court, arcade room and the only golf simulator inside a Hilton hotel.
A dedicated screening room shows a movie every night at 7:30 pm and the hotel does take requests. The space can also be used for meetings, lectures and presentations. It really felt like a fancy condo with shared common areas than a high-rise downtown hotel.

The pool is a great place to clear your head and a fun place for families
Flying in for the week on business? The hotel offers a complimentary grocery service where they will stock your fridge for you. The expense is billed back to your room, just email ahead of time with your request.

Local Shuttle Service – I used the local shuttle service instead of calling a taxi for a drop-off and pick-up within a reasonable radius. I highly recommend visiting The Bishop Arts District for local boutiques, artisan shops, homemade pie and chocolate from this one-of-a-kind neighbourhood.

Craving Comfort Food? A complimentary dinner is served nightly Monday to Thursday – perfect for those looking to nest in after a long day at the office. A weekly menu was posted on my refrigerator and included options like lasagna, salad, a dessert, wine, tea and coffee.

When I’m away for work, I don’t necessarily love going out every night. It’s great to have the option to either cook in my kitchen or have a hot meal waiting for me when I come back to the hotel. It’s also incredibly economical for families and groups and is 100% included in the nightly rate. The hotel is currently building an outdoor patio and BBQ area for guest-use. If you’re looking to meet new people while traveling on your own, the nightly dinner, BBQ patio and spacious hotel lounge are a great way to mingle.

Nightly rates at Homewood Suites Dallas Downtown start as low as $159 and it is the only Hilton property in Downtown Dallas. The high-rise hotel boasts 130 rooms with 50% of the building reserved for long-term stays that are five nights or more. The hotel is also 100% smoke-free. Valet parking is for $22/day and a reduced self-park option is also available.

I would definitely recommend checking out a Homewood Suites next time you're heading away for a long-term stay, vacation or just want the comforts of home. They have locations all over North America and many of them carry just as many amenities as the Dallas Downtown location.
