Festival Chic for the Grown & Stylish

Summer festival season can feel like a total style rut. Ripped denim, flower hair crown, kitschy cropped tee, fringe bag. I'm not mad at the tradition but at thirty-something I feel ready to let go of the standard festival uniform in favour of a slightly more sophisticated take.

Here's what I'd rock to my next outdoor festival of the summer:

The Top: Instead of that kitschy cropped tee, try a textured knit with an interesting detail like this knotted gray tank by Free People. FYI the placement of the knot is your choice so you can wear this like a crop if you've been working on your beach body.

The Bottoms: Skip the ratty cut-offs and opt for an eye-catching nature inspired print short like these tropical high-waisted ones from TopShop. A printed maxi skirt would be equally fetching or if prints are not your thing try something bright. It is a party after all!

The Accessories: Of course summer staples like a great pair of sunnies or a sun hat have their place but it's okay to step away from the floral headband and fringe purse. Instead try an embroidered cross body like this one from Free People and sport your fringe around your neck with a great beaded and chain statement necklace to finish of the look. Blush strappy flats are comfy and a great addition to your summer wardrobe in general though you'll want to make sure they clean well depending on the venue.
