In New York, the fine dining options are endless! With almost 8000 restaurants, where does one go for power lunches or to celebrate life's milestones? For me, I like to base my decision on two things: a diverse and creative menu (a good chef is one that is not afraid to be adventurous and pair unique foods!) and I appreciate a classy atmosphere minus the pretentious service. So it's a no brainer that The Garden Restaurant was easily my top choice for our wedding anniversary toast.
Located in Manhattan's Midtown East, The Garden Restaurant overlooks the Grand Lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel. Patrons are invited to sip cocktails (try the classic Mint Julep!) and dine under a canopy of enormous African acacia trees in a forest-like setting.
While most lunch menus offer the typical salad starters and the usual suspects of meat/chicken/fish entrees, I was highly impressed with the array of choices offered at The Garden. They are very vegetarian/vegan-friendly and seafood lovers will adore the vast selection from crab salad to ahi tuna burgers.
I started with the Heirloom Tomato Salad which our server, Milton highly recommended because of their perfect ripeness this time of the year. The Local Kale Salad with Shaved Crispin Apples and PecorinoIt is also a great choice as it's a light but fulfilling starter.
Next up for my main course was the Soft Shell Crabs with caramelized Plums, charred broccolini, saba and apple Juice. They were crunchy and full of intense flavour.
Save the best for last! If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love this Vanilla Souffle topped with summer berries. The homemade sorbets are also refreshingly delicious if you are looking for something less sweet and more tart.
We had a wonderful lunch and the service was stellar (but that's a given at Four Seasons). Thanks to Milton for serving us and we'll be back for brunch to try the infamous Lemon Ricotta Pancakes!
