Part of a great vacation is being able to indulge in food and Blue Mountain offers no shortage of great restaurants. Here are my top places for breakfast, lunch and dinner in The Village...
Famous for its “All Day Breakfast”, Sunset Grill is a California-style breakfast house with a warm and friendly community atmosphere. The portions are generous at very wallet-friendly prices. It’s my go-to spot to bring my family before hitting the ski slopes or going mountain biking and hiking in the summer.
Craving chocolate chip pancakes, eggs benedict or a club sandwich with home fries? The question is what does this place not serve in their expansive menu?!?!
You can't miss the iconic Firehall in the middle of the Village. Firehall Pizza Co. serves pizzas (of course!) with every topping imaginable and they all have fun names like High Stakes Porker, Jimmy The Greek and Hawaii Five-O. It's the place you come to for your pub fix and comfort foods but feel free to order a heaping salad if you prefer a lighter meal. I recommend the Spinach Salad because I love their tangy mango vinaigrette.
There are several places to get French Onion Soup at Blue Mountain but by far, they serve the best one because the onion is sweet, there is just the right amount of melted cheese and the broth is not overly salty.
In the winter, the vibe is cosy and casual and in the summer, order one of their fire hydrant beer towers and relax on their beautiful patio overlooking the Events Plaza and the Mill Pond. This is also an ideal place for families because they have a kid's menu and crayons!
The Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill is a chic eatery inside Westin Trillium House offers an extensive a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner selection, as well as some seriously indulgent culinary experiences. It's what we come to expect from Oliver & Bonacini. There are cozy tables by the fire in the winter and breezy pond-side terrace seating if you come in the summer... making this the perfect date night spot.
If you are budgeting one splurge meal this is the place to do it at. We started with the Black Tiger Shrimp Tempura with wasabi, lemon & garlic Kewpie mayo. For seafood lover like moi, I highly recommend the Mustard-Glazed Pickerel dressed with pearl barely, kale pesto and cabbage. It's a white and flakey freshwater fish.
The Charred Alberta Lamb Sirloin with olive & lemon braised potatoes, green beans & goat cheese was tender, full of flavour and a delicious option for carnivores. Finish off with their signature "Sweet Nothings" desserts - chose from bite size s'mores, Lemon Possets or Housemade Almond Chocolate Biscotti. Bon Appétit!
