I make it no secret that I'm a BIG fan of glamping.
I recently made a trip up to Napa Valley and stayed nearby at the KOA Petaluma for a fun little glamping adventure in one of their Deluxe Cabins. It was SO awesome that Paul and I are already talking about doing it again.
I got a taste of the camping experience without the worries of having to pack linens or any sort of camping equipment. I showed up with groceries, a marshmallow roasting stick and some clothes and I was all set for my weekend.
All I wanted to do was drink wine and relax and this was a lot more interesting than a cookie cutter hotel room. A little cabin was just perfect for us. We could make our own breakfasts, pack a few picnics, BBQ dinner, roast marshmallows and just hang outside under the stars.
If you can't get to Petaluma or Napa - not to worry! This deluxe cabin and other fancy glamping cabins are replicated at KOA campsites across North America. It's almost like staying inside a tiny house. You can check out the KOA website for a campground near you and select cabin options when you are searching for dates and availability.
Our Deluxe Cabin featured a separate bedroom, kitchenette, toilet, shower, TV, gas BBQ, firepit, picnic table, towels and linens. I would only suggest bringing campfire chairs that we used for reading on our front deck during the day and around the fire at night.
I also loved having our own private washroom and not having to schlep to the shared facilities. I know it’s a luxury and a premium to pay – but it was totally worth it. One thing to note, there is no bathroom sink. We used the kitchen sink to wash dishes and brush our teeth. But the crew at Petaluma KOA did manage to squeeze in a lot in this small space.
The campground also features free WiFi (basic service), a swimming pool, jump pillow, themed parties, karaoke nights, an arcade, a petting zoo and TONS of activities for families and kids.
Overall we had a a really fantastic stay and I would definitely recommend giving one of KOA's deluxe cabins a try!
