Hip + Urban Girl of the Month: Marina Arnaout

By Wendy Kam Marcy

She was named one of Canada's 100 digital marketers by Dx3, she's also the Digital Leader for a global tech company, a blogger and someone you should definitely follow on social media... say hello to our Hip + Urban Girl of the month: Marina Arnaout! Her credentials are stacked with talent and influence!

1) What is a typical day in the life of Marina?

That really doesn't exist - the only thing I know for certain is if I haven't been on a plane in more than a month, I tend to get restless.

2) Wow lots has changed since we first interviewed you for this column back in 2012. Sounds like you are on an incredible career journey! What has been the most important decision you've made to put you on this path?

Choosing to work in the tech sector where opportunity is increasing every day and being part of modernizing and changing the way business is done. I'm constantly surrounded by innovation and creating best practices in a new area - it's very exciting. I also work on a global level with my colleagues from Europe to Asia, and especially with emerging markets in Latin America. International business knowledge is a very important skill in today's world.

3) And of course, I have to ask how you juggle it all?

On top of it all, I run AffluenceAvenue.com - Toronto's Luxury Lifestyle Guide; I am on the committee for Breakfast of Champions (annual fundraising and networking event in support of SickKids Foundation); I am trying to feed my insatiable appetite for travel and world exploration; and I am constantly exploring new and unique hobbies recently dabbling into aviation. Who needs sleep, right?

4) Top 3 places to visit on your travel bucket list?

This is a tough one... Laos/Vietnam, road trip through Romantic Road in Germany and Monaco Grand Prix.

5) Tell us about your neighhourhood and your favourite places to dine, shop and hang out.

Sometimes I feel like I don't leave King Street! My favourite hang outs include Soho House and Weslodge. My current favourite restaurant is Ki and I mostly shop online.

6) What's the most valuable advice you've ever received?

Measure yourself only against your previous self and fill your life with experiences, not things.

7) Any last words for us tech girls out there?!

Think big, work hard, be kind, never stop learning and don't forget to have fun.
