What I Really Think of Green Food Supplements

This product is sold everywhere and I've walked by it countless times.

To be completely honest, I'm not really a fan of supplements. Consuming predominately an organic and plant-based diet (plus having a very health conscious husband), I automatically assume that my clean and healthy eating habits are already fueling my body with all the goodness it needs to thrive.

I am however, making a point of learning more about how to better manage my body’s acid/alkaline balance. When diet is too acidic, the body has to work extra hard to offset the overload and it's at the expense of our health - in the form of things like acid reflux, bloating, feeling tired and weight gain. Add in environmental toxins and stress, and suddenly I'm left not feeling at my best.

So when greens+ invited me to attend an event with lovely nutritionist and new mom: Joy McCarthy (who I am a fan of!), I went with an open mind and was willing to give greens+ a try (without much expectations).

Fast forward to a month after and this is my "morning wake up call" that I've come to depend on...

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of almond or rice milk
  • 1/2 cup of coconut water (Jax Coco sells kid's size pouches with just the right portion to make this)
  • 1 scoop of greens+ extra energy cappuccino
  • handful of ice
  • pinch of cinnamon

Directions:

Mix everything in a shaker cup or blender.

Since greens+ is already an organic and gluten-free powder concentration of 23 superfoods, herbs, fruits and veggies, you don't need to add in anything else but sometimes I throw in a banana (or raisins and spinach – the most alkaline foods!) and have it as a breakfast smoothie.

The Verdict:

Genuine Health's greens+ can be consumed daily but it's recommended you start with half a scoop and gradually increase it. I have to add that I actually look forward to drinking it because it's delicious and not chalky or overly sweet like some other supplements.

For the first week, there was not much of a difference except trips to the bathroom were more frequent and my digestive track felt cleaner than ever! Also no more bloating!

Typically I drank it around 3pm as a pick-me-up during that lull in the day but then I switched to having it in the mornings. That's when I started noticing results - a lift in my energy and mood <-- which was a pleasant surprise and not expected. And I'm having more restful sleeps as well.

It's been a month since introducing greens+ to my daily routine. I've lowered my caffein consumption, ditched the exhaustion and overall, I know I'm doing something good for my body so I feel happier and more balanced.

Give it a try, it's much healthier and a $60 tub lasts a month to month and half - beats the price of buying a latte everyday!
